1 Peter 3:22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
Peter now confirms one of the primary confessions of Christians: Jesus ascended to the right hand of God and is Lord to whom all will bow their knee in worship. Paul quotes an early Christian hymn in Philippians 2:5-11 which states the same idea. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead proves his power over sin and death. His exaltation shows his supremacy as Lord. The place of the right hand shows Jesus’ honor before the Father. Peter’s claim here is consistent with many other passages in the New Testament, which indicates the uniform belief of early Christians. What affect does this have upon the readers, including us today? We are confronted with the decision of having to do something with Jesus. Will we acknowledge and accept his supremacy over creation? To confess Jesus as Lord necessitates that we also accept his supremacy over our own lives. Jesus cannot simply be a convenience or good luck charm. As honored and exalted Lord, he demands our worship, which will require us falling down in total consecration before him. This should be worked out in daily obedience to his commands, walking as he walked (1 John 1:7).
