2 Peter 1:15 And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.
Peter is doing his best through this letter to remind his readers of the core qualities of followers of Jesus. This may have been Peter’s last letter, at least as recorded in the canon. He gives his best effort to make sure his readers know the most important things that will strengthen them in their own journeys. Can we follow in his example? How can we “make every effort” to help people grow spiritually? We can be overbearing sometimes in how we present the truth of the gospel. Part of making this effort will require sensitivity to the setting and culture of our place of service, whether that be the home, church, work place, or other settings. We must present the truth of the gospel is such a way that people understand it and want to participate in it. We can teach about the good news in such a way that people are repelled by it. Peter does not just want surface acknowledgement of the gospel in his readers but he wants deep life change that would enable them to recall the truth at any time and in any situation.
