1 Peter 2:12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Our witness to others will confirm our faith in Jesus. I have heard some people say that it does not matter what others think of us. Peter would disagree. It does matter. Our reputation is very important because how we live verifies what we believe. As God’s holy people in this world, non-believers are looking at us. If our lives are no better than theirs, then why should they believe? There must be a qualitative difference between the lives of believers and unbelievers. Our actions may come back to haunt us years later. We must protect our reputations. How? By living in a way that pleases God. We can strive to live in such a way that people cannot find anything bad to say about us. This should not be due to a false mask of hypocrisy that we wear but because of a genuine integrity. This will bring God glory.
