1 Peter 3:1-2 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.
Peter shifts from theology at the end of chapter 2 to practical application. Even the theology of chapter 2 was intended to help slaves and those suffering various persecutions and trials to stay true to God. The overarching them is submission. The reason various groups can submit is because of the example of Jesus. He submitted to death, but this brought salvation to us. Likewise, our submission may lead to the salvation of others through our example. This is in Peter’s thinking as he writes now to wives. By submitting to their husbands, wives will be examples of love and obedience. This will impact their husbands who will be won over to the Lord through the lives of their wives. The only way wives can do this is with God’s love and power working in them. Wives can be examples to their husbands of purity and reverence.
