1 Corinthians 2:1

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

Simplicity. I often tell my seminary and college students to keep things simple when they go out in ministry. I have seen too many students preach their first sermons as if they were writing a research paper. I can almost see the congregation nodding off in a daze but being polite enough to look attentive and kind enough to say, “Good sermon, Pastor,” when they leave. Paul’s message was simple: Jesus Christ, crucified and raised. Although the message is simple, it beyond the power of our minds to understand. We do not need to preach this message with fancy sermons. The simplest and most effective “sermon” will be how we live and if our words and actions reflect our Lord.
