1 Corinthians 2:16
for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
The quotation of Isaiah 40:13 here is odd but fits Paul’s argument that there is no way to know the mind of God without the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will change us into the likeness of Jesus. As we listen and obey the Spirit more, we will take on more of the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is our worldview and how this determines our speech and actions. As we become more and more filled with love as a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22), we begin to love others like Jesus did. We put others first. We love the unlovable. Our love is worked out in practical ways. Holiness of heart becomes holiness in action. We do not want to do anything that is contrary to God’s laws. We live to please God and not ourselves. People should see a difference in us if we are living like Jesus. Don’t expect people to pat you on the back and say, “wow, you are impressive.” We may feel the pain of whips and the rejection of shame because we are becoming more like Jesus. The darkness does not like the light. The brighter we become, the more the darkness will not like us. But the benefits outweigh any tribulation or persecution we will experience. There is nothing greater in this world than to become who God created us to be.
