Romans 7:12 So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
God’s laws are not our problem but sin inherited from Adam is. The law is a reflection of God’s will for us. The law is holy because it comes from God who is holy. The law defines holiness and what is righteous morally. Without the law, we would not know what it means to be holy. Jeremiah 31:31-34 prophesies how God would one day write the law on people’s hearts. Ezekiel 36 prophecies that God would renew people’s hearts by the Holy Spirit. When the law is lived out through the help of the Holy Spirit when one submits to the Lordship of Jesus Christ through the new covenant inaugurated by his blood. That is a powerful idea that connects the Old Testament (covenant) to the new one. God’s purpose for the law is to show how we can live out our relationship (covenant) with Him through the grace He provides us.
