They have a difficult time in believing in something that they cannot experience. We have to trust in the ancient testimonies of the first eye-witnesses to the person of Jesus of Nazareth. This is a matter of faith, which is crucial for our walk as followers of Jesus. Yet, is our faith in Jesus only historical in nature? Does it involve only looking back in time at something that took place 2000 years ago? I suggest that there is something we can experience today of this ancient testimony. This experience comes through the Holy Spirit who enables us to experience in part what John did so long ago. The physical body of Jesus is replaced in our experience with the physical presence of the Body of Christ, the church. We experience Jesus through one another as we walk the journey of life together, live, work, play, cry, and so on, together. The Holy Spirit binds the followers of Jesus together in unity in experience. The church does not replace Jesus but is where and how we can experience the presence of Jesus. To experience this in life transforming ways will require that each person within the Body be committed to the love of Jesus by walking by the guidance of the Spirit.

For older posts, click here.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
