{"id":361,"date":"2016-02-15T19:16:37","date_gmt":"2016-02-16T02:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acky4.com\/wp\/?p=361"},"modified":"2016-02-18T19:21:07","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T02:21:07","slug":"godliness-defined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/acky4.com\/wp\/2016\/02\/15\/godliness-defined\/","title":{"rendered":"Godliness Defined"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"en-ESV-29731\" class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">1 Timothy 3:16<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-ESV-29731\" class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">He\u00a0was manifested in the flesh,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">vindicated\u00a0by the Spirit,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-2\"><span class=\"indent-2-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">seen by angels,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">proclaimed among the nations,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">believed on in the world,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-2\"><span class=\"indent-2-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Tim-3-16\">taken up in glory.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"line\">As Christians, our goal ought to be becoming all that God has created us to be. We tend to think of &#8220;godliness&#8221; as an activity that we do. We must be godly to get into heaven. We equate it with a certain lifestyle or a set of rules that we keep. Paul shows the heart of godliness in this verse. It is not what we do but it is a person. When we are connected to his person, the rest of what we say, do, and think will be influenced. How? Because it is not really we who are doing the action. It is Christ living within us who is doing the action and giving the ability to do this action.
