Romans 6:8-11\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup>Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.<\/em><\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.<\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.<\/span> 11\u00a0<\/sup>So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Death to the old self is the open door to new life of freedom from the control of sin. A new master must take control of our lives. Paul now reflects on Jesus’ own experience of death and resurrection. Death is the power of sin. By conquering death, Jesus conquered the power of sin. He was unique in that he did not die for his sins but for the rest of the world. He went to the cross willingly and obediently. Those are core requirements as part of the death process. We must put our total faith in God, everything we are and that we are aware of at the time. We will continue to discover areas of our lives and new thoughts that continually need to be submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Jesus died once, a decisive decision of obedience. The one time death lead to the continuous resurrection. Jesus is alive forever more. We must follow in this pattern. We must come to terms with our old life and make a decision in entire sanctification to die to the old life, once, for all time. The old life of sin is done away with. We then through the power of God rise to new life that begins now and last for eternity. Jesus set the pattern for us of total consecration to the Father. We must do this also.<\/p>\n
