{"id":8343,"date":"2022-01-24T00:00:19","date_gmt":"2022-01-23T14:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acky4.com\/wp\/?p=8343"},"modified":"2022-01-25T18:03:42","modified_gmt":"2022-01-25T08:03:42","slug":"doing-good-to-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/acky4.com\/wp\/2022\/01\/24\/doing-good-to-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Doing Good to Others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1 Thessalonians 5:15 <em><sup class=\"versenum\">15<\/sup>See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The natural response when someone does something mean to us is to want to get even by seeking revenge. We may have a natural emotional response of self protection that leads us to fight back. When we feel our rights are violated, we want to fight for them. The problem with all of this is that it may end up hurting others and does not show love. We take God&#8217;s justice upon ourselves. God will pay evil with his justice, and it is not our job to seek revenge (Romans 12:19). There are many subtle ways people can pay evil for evil, such as talking bad about someone, spreading half-truths or rumors, creating situations for the evil doers to hurt themselves or be embarrassed, and others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Good<\/em> is a broad word that can mean many things. The Holy Spirit grows this fruit in us along with love (Galatians 5:22-23). Love does no harm to others (Romans 13:10) but\u00a0<em>seeks what is good<\/em>. Love is doing what benefits others, looking out for their good, and creating a good situation for them to prosper and grow in their believe in God. Love may be expressed as kindness and mercy when people deserve wrath and justice. By doing good, both those who receive love and those who give love come to know the nature of God more. Our goodness is to be extended not just to those in the church but to\u00a0<em>all people<\/em>.
