We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
Paul begins to talk about the new type of thinking that comes when we align ourselves with the message of the cross. This thinking exists on a different level than the wisdom of the world around us. There are many brilliant people in this world but they often are blind to what really matters in life. We are bombarded everyday in the media with the latest fads, including intellectual, scientific, and technological advances. Even with all the increase in human knowledge over the past decades, the same old problems still exist. There is no cure for death. The wars only increase. Poverty still abounds. Families and relationships are breaking apart in record numbers. Human experience and history have proven that we cannot solve our deepest problems. In fact, we often make them worse with all our attempts. There is an answer for our deepest problems and it is found in Jesus Christ.
