1 Corinthians 2:12

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.

Christians have special access to God that unbelievers do not have. The reason for this is because of the indwelling Holy Spirit who speaks to our hearts, minds, and consciences. This is both a blessing and responsibility. If we only had what theologians call the “natural mind,” we are relying on our own power and understanding. We cannot know the deep things of God simply by observation or science. Some things only come through revelation. The way we experience God’s revelation is through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit inspires the Bible so that it is alive and  active in our lives. The Spirit speaks words through others and events. If we look, listen, and feel, we can discern this drawing voice and force around. But especially, we can grow in our understanding of the gospel.
