1 Corinthians 3:6

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.

Ministry takes teamwork, not competition. Ministry can get discouraging when there are no fruits from the labor. Being the seed planter can be especially challenging because we plant by faith, not knowing if or when a harvest will come. It is spring time now and I am thinking about planting my garden. I actually planted some lettuce a few weeks ago which is now starting to come up. I will plant more whenever I get time. We put seed into the ground with a lot of faith that the tiny seeds will actually bring vegetables later on. Paul was a person of great faith evidenced by his many missionary journeys. He planed seeds everywhere he went. Some grew and produced a harvest, while others did not. There were times of frustration, as evidenced his letters such as 2 Corinthians. The ministry of planting can be frustrating. Having others come along with us or after us and grow our work is gratifying.
