1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
In the next two verses, Peter gives a simple benediction or blessing to the readers of this letter. It is a statement of assurance and an example of the type of faith and confidence about which he has written in this letter. First, we get a description of God as the “God of grace.” God will supply all we need according to His riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). God’s grace does not run out or exhaust but is endlessly available. God’s grace is seen in the last statement: God will restore and make us strong, firm, and steadfast. God’s grace helps us endure any suffering, persecution, or trial of life. That does not mean we will not have scars or have a healthy and carefree existence. In fact, we may have to face trials of many kinds. But God will help us through this. Why? Because God has a greater plan for us: eternal glory in Christ. This verse returns to some of the key ideas of chapter 1. Our faith may be tried through fire and trouble, but it will come out purer when we put our faith in God. God will help us stand up to suffering.
