James 1:3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

If we say we have faith but have not tested this faith, can we really call what we have as faith? Faith in the Bible is an action word that leads to obedience or action. James will emphasize this in this letter. In this verse, testing is a way that faith can be put to action. The action is to endure the testing. Easy faith is only intellectual belief in something abstract or impersonal. Genuine faith is something that has acted on the trust. To endure testing with perseverance will require the action of submission, which will be show in worship and something in walking in a direction we do not know. Such faith will grow stronger with each step of trust and as we obey the voice of God. Sometimes the trial may be so severe that we can only raise our hands to got in plea or raise our eyes towards heaven in petition. The action require may be a prayer of submission, seeking God’s presence and purpose for us.
