Jude 15 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.
A lot of the issues with these false teachers has to do with their mouths. Our mouths get us into so many problems. These people grumble. Grumbling is usually result of when we don’t get our own way. We complain because something does not meet our expectations. One way this happens is when we find fault in others. By finding fault in others, we elevate ourselves, at least in our own eyes. By putting others down, we think we will look better. This is all a matter of selfishness and sin. Another issue for these people is following their own evil desires. They want things their way. They consider themselves better than others, the opposite of what Jesus did (see Philippians 2:1-11). Their selfishness also shows up in their boasting. They try to make themselves look good in the eyes of other people. This is all to get ahead.
This type of lifestyle has several results. It is destructive to the one who follows this path. At first, perhaps a person may end up in the front, but people catch on quickly and can see the hypocrisy. This usually ends up with a loss of respect for the person who follows this path. Another result is that is always leaves victims. By putting oneself up, others must be lowered. This results in poor self esteem, psychological problems, relationship issues, and many other things. If there are problems between two people, chances are good that one of the people is following the path of these false teachers. The right path to take is one of humility and self-sacrifice.
