Romans 8:10-11 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

Since Adam and Eve’s fateful decision to reject God’s sovereignty by disobeying the one simple command in the garden of Eden, death has been part of human existence. We all face death and all that leads up to it. Our cells are finite and decay over time until our bodies are exhausted or diseased and die. Our bodies are subject to this death is many ways, especially evident in the pains and sorrows we experience. Sometimes these come by way of persecution and other times by our own decisions. But in the midst of our struggle, we experience new life. This new life is spiritual life expressed through hope that infiltrates our being, bringing many positive affects in our lives. This new life in the Spirit is the prelude to eternal life because we put ourselves under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Christ’s bodily resurrection guarantees our own bodily resurrection. The new life in Christ the Holy Spirit brings is not dependent upon our physical existence and will outlast death. Although our bodies are wasting away, we look forward to the day when these imperfect bodies will be raised to immortality
