1 Corinthians 12:21-22 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are necessary.

The body cannot reject parts of itself. If it tries, it will cause pain and not function the way it should. The application for the church is obvious. Every person is important. No one should be rejected or neglected. Most believers in the church have good intentions and would not purposefully do this. However, selfishness and pride too easily slip into any church. These are the temptations that come to those who feel comfortable in their status in the church. For too many people, their participation in the life of the church amounts to coming on Sunday morning and putting in a little offering (a token small percent and not a tithe). They do not do any ministries, reach out to other members, or do any outreach or evangelism in the community. This type of church life is comfortable. It asks little of people. Loving one another and working together will take more effort. It will require purposefully looking out for the weaker members. It will require that leaders in the church have servants’ hearts that see the best in others and provides opportunities and directions for those who are not upfront. Working together like this will bring a great harvest of souls for the Lord.
