2 Corinthians 3:4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God.
Because of what the Holy Spirit does within us because of what Christ has done, we can have confidence before God. Paul’s trinitarian reflection shines through in these verses. Our confidence comes through Christ who is the mediator between us and God (1 Timothy 2:5). Confidence brings certainty and strengthens faith. Verse 4 reminds the Corinthians that their lives are built on Christ and not any human teaching or teacher. They were connected to the eternal plan of the Creator. This was not one of the many empty philosophies and powerless religions on display all over Corinth. It is crucial that our lives be connected to the only true source of change and hope. We cannot put our confidence in anything else, for there is no power that can bring the type of change that is needed in our deepest person.
