1 Corinthians 1:28-29
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
The paradox of the gospel works out into paradoxes of life. The world boasts in who has the most power, wealth, leadership, the most famous, and so on. I want my life to have value and to make a difference. But I have long realized that I will not be world famous or famous at any level. I have to find my personal worth in something that is sure. The one thing I can count on is that I can invest myself in the people around me by planting seeds of love. What tremendous humility it would take to spend our life serving one other person. I am awed at those who serve handicapped children or disabled parents. Their love is just as powerful as famous people. God works through what the world may see at the least of people. If we are praising God through whatever simple things we do, we will find a greater self-worth than if we lead nations.
