Psalm 103:
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
Anyone who has been a father knows that compassion is a crucial part of being a loving parent. There are many things that frustrate us as parents. We have to realize that our children are just like we were at their age (may be even better). My parents are both with the Lord now, and there are things I did as a kid I never told them. In fact, only those who did these things with me remember them (like throwing homemade water balloons at cars). God has compassion on us because he loves us. He created us and knows our weaknesses and faults. We are bothered more about our weaknesses than God is. If God has compassion on us, perhaps we should have more compassion on ourselves. If God so loved us, we ought to love who he created us to be.
