1 Timothy 2:9-10

I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

We are bombarded just about every day with flashy clothing and the latest fads. We cannot watch TV or surf the Internet without seeing people dressed immodestly. How should we as Christians respond? The pull of the world is so strong. We are put under tremendous pressure to conform to how others around us dress and behave. It takes tremendous conviction and self discipline to go against the pull. The pressure is even more upon young people who want to be accepted by their friends. These words from Paul can apply to all people, but just women of first century Ephesus.
