1 Corinthians 1:10

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

I don’t know why people can’t just get along, especially those who call themselves Christians. If we believe in the same God and serve the same Lord, shouldn’t that put us on the same mission? I have learned the hard way that not everyone understands the mission or embraces the common mission. There are a lot of fleshly and worldly Christians. This is a good description of the Corinthian Christians, as this letter will show. There is nothing more powerful than a group of people united in mind and thought. In the very next chapter, Paul will write of having the mind of Christ (2:16). His mention of “mind and thought” here in 1:10 may not be accidental. The more we embrace the thought patterns of Jesus, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, the more we will have in common with one another. The more our lives will be filled with love and expressed in holiness. We may have different opinions on things, but when we are filled with holy love and loving holiness, our opinions become secondary to the God’s mission for us. It is a pleasure to fellowship with like-minded people. It is refreshing, rewarding, and fulfilling.
