Romans 1:26-27 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Another sad way people experience God’s wrath is by following after shameful lusts. These lusts become distorted by sin leading to homosexuality. Lust and physical relations outside of God’s plan are always self-destructive. The “due penalty in themselves” can be both psychological and physical in nature. Sexual diseases could be avoided by following God’s plan for marriage. Instead, today they are out of control. This deep problem of sin can infect both men and women. These verses speak directly to many issues today. People hail freedom over God’s design. They come up with excuses such as, I was born that way, or, I cannot help who I am. Choices that follow God’s will make be the most difficult in a person’s life. Accountability and encouragement may help those who struggle significantly in this area.
