Romans 3:3-4 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

Even though the Jews failed to keep the terms of God’s laws and failed to keep their side of the covenant, God would remain faithful. God is just and will judge by the truth of what he has revealed to humanity. The Jews will be judged by the light of the law that they have received. God is a righteous judge. The history of the Jewish people stretching back through ancient Israel and Judah indicates that they were unfaithful to God most of the time. There was always a faithful remnant who did not compromise their faith and lived by trusting in God’s mercy. God is faithful to what he has promised. That means for us today that what God has promised in the gospel is also true and we can trust in it. We can build our lives on it.
